Joyeux décembre tout le monde!

I hope everyone is doing well and getting ready for Christmas soon! Everything is going well in Nantes but I’m seriously craving some snow. The last month has been very busy with lots of family visiting, exams coming up very soon, and still so many things I want to see / do/ eat in France.

At the end of October, I made my way down to meet Ellie in Nice for a week of traveling the Côte d’Azur. The coast was absolutely beautiful but I actually preferred the life once we got further into the heart of Provence. Never having truly wine toured before, I had the pleasure of learning all about wine from the experts at Chateauneuf du Pape and other renowned wineries in the region surrounding Avignon. Being that I was with the chef of the family, Ellie and I enjoyed one amazing meal after another… often shutting down the restaurant, which in France means eating until 11 or 12 at night, so I was quite proud of us.

Last weekend I took one final weekend road trip with four of my closest friends in the exchange program. We headed north to Bretagne, which was once its own country, went back and forth between England and France for some time, and is now officially a part of France but still holds a culture all its own. Most importantly, the crêpes and galettes are the best in France. Luckily, we were there during a huge storm! Probably sounds a little paradoxical but the coast of Bretagne is known for its storms during the winter and I have never seen anything like it. The winds were blowing at 50km per hour and the waves were the biggest I’ve ever seen. I could jump in the air and the wind would literally carry me back five feet before I landed again. We were all so taken back by the power of the storm but the funny thing was all the old people from Bretagne were out walking around like there was just a light breeze… probably thought we were the crazy foreigners, jumping and running around ;).

I better get back to my intensive studying (aka- me trying to figure out what I wrote at the beginning of the semester when I had no idea what the professor was saying). Haha, should be interesting for the exams next week! Good luck to everyone who is in exams and have a great break. See you all in January!
