Convoy Expansion to Canada

Convoy Canada

The Certificate of International Studies in Business Program held the annual Foreign Market Strategy Competition on Jan. 30, 2020. Students in each foreign language track come together to over several weeks to make recommendations on international expansion to a local company. This year, CISB students tackled a local, unicorn startup called Convoy, a trucking software company described as “the Uber for trucking.” Each track made recommendations for which country Convoy should consider next for international expansion.

The competition wrapped up with final presentations to a panel of 4 judges: our own CISB alumna Ciara Klein, a Marketing Manager for Commercial Demand Generation at Convoy, Mark Keeney, Head of Enterprise Marketing at Convoy, Foster’s own Management and Organization professor Abhinav Gupta, and CISB alumnus Matthew Sink, Head of Operations, Spin Electric Scooter.

Each track put in hard work over several weeks and it paid off, with compelling presentations for many different countries, each with their own unique opportunities. The grand prize went to the U.S. Track, with recommendations to expand Convoy’s efforts to Canada. Spanish Track took home the Most Original award for a presentation to expand to Colombia, as well as Best Presentation Style with a convincing presentation on the possibilities in expanding to Mexico.

CISB appreciates all the hard work on the part of Ciara Klein for connecting CISB and Convoy to make this competition possible, and we are all looking forward to seeing what Convoy continues to accomplish in the coming years!
