GBCC 2021: The Leadership Team

The 22nd installation of the Global Business Case Competition (GBCC) is just two months away and we’re more excited than ever to virtually welcome our international competitors. In the largest UW GBCC to ever run, our 24 incoming teams hail from 19 countries on 6 continents (see below for complete list). We’ve had an incredible group of student leaders working hard over the last six months to put together a memorable 22nd anniversary celebration and the competition to come is sure to be a resounding success. As always, the GBCC will be jam packed with international collaboration, engagement, and education, and conclude with an exciting 22nd annual Champions Announcement on April 26th, 2021.

GBCC week is always product of both tradition and innovation, the result of twenty years of history combined with the ideas and inspiration each new group of student leaders bring. To keep them focused, the student leadership team developed the following endeavor statement and goals for the week:

Endeavor Statement

It’s the 22nd year of the Global Business Case Competition, but no two years have been the same. In this unprecedented time, the GBCC is embracing the challenge and turning it into an opportunity. With more time to indulge in current business problems and newly designed activities, students will be inspired by this immersive experience and become globally connected. We strive to deliver a unique, seamless, inter-cultural experience only made possible by the online format. After all, we are all in the age of change.

Goals

  • Make lasting connections – network with Foster students and international students!
  • Continual Innovation
  • Increase cross cultural business understanding for participants and Foster Students

That said, the Global Business Center is proud to introduce the 2021 GBCC Leadership Team:

GBCC Co-Chair: Jadon Park
Year: Junior
Major: Accounting

I am from Bellevue, Washington but consider myself a Midwesterner as I grew up there. I have traveled extensively within the US/Canada and my dream is to backpack around Europe. I’m excited to see GBCC adapt to the circumstances and create new experiences for students all over the globe!

GBCC Co-Chair: Patricia Li
Year: Junior
Major: Finance & Accounting

I was born in Shanghai and later moved to Bellevue. I love traveling – I have traveled to Japan, Italy, Thailand, Hong Kong, Indonesia, France, Germany, and Australia! As a case competition lover myself, what I am most excited about for GBCC is the opportunity to connect with students from across the globe and seeing the differences and similarities between all of us.

AMBASSADOR MANAGER: Samantha Schrantz
Year: Sophomore
Major: Business and International Studies

I was born and raised in Seattle, and I love to spend time hiking and skiing in the mountains. During GBCC, I’m excited to meet participants from around the globe!

AMBASSADOR MANAGER: Skylar Becerra
Year: Sophomore
Major: Marketing & Finance

I am from Vancouver, WA right next to Portland, OR. I have traveled a lot especially around the US, Latin America, and Europe. My favorite is to go on road trips around national parks and love camping and skiing. I am looking forward to building an international community virtually this year and I am excited to meet everyone!

EVENT MANAGER: Brittany Do
Year: Sophomore
Major: Finance & Accounting

I’m from Bothell, Washington, although I tell people outside Washington that I’m from Seattle so they know where that is. Since I haven’t left North America before, I’d love to visit friends in Europe and Asia. I’m looking forward to meeting everyone and seeing what makes everyone unique.

EVENT MANAGER: Jace Curtin
Year: Senior
Major: Accounting & Information Systems

I am from Vancouver, WA (not the Canada one) and have lived my entire life in the state of Washington. I’ve traveled to London, Jamaica, France, Mexico and Canada. As soon as covid is over I plan on travelling ALOT more since FOMO is real. I’m most excited to meet new people through GBCC and see how the contest has changed in a virtual environment!

MARKETING MANAGER: Emma Dahleen
Year: Sophomore
Major: Marketing

My name is Emma Dahleen and I’m a Sophomore at UW excited to explore the GBCC Marketing Manager position. Born in California but raised in the beautiful West Seattle, I spent most of my years growing up working at Husky Deli scooping ice cream. My favorite place I’ve traveled to is Dubrovnik, Croatia, although Rome, Italy definitely takes a close second place due to my sheer amount of gelato consumption while visiting.

EVENT MANAGER: Zoë Tucker
Year: Junior
Major: Marketing, CISB, Spanish Minor

My name is Zoë and I’m from Issaquah, Washington. I’ve travelled all around the U.S. from California to New York and have explored parts of Canada and Mexico, but I’m setting my sights on Europe, particularly Spain, when we can all travel again. I am excited for this year’s GBCC to meet new people from all over the globe, be a part of the transition to a virtual environment and share this event with the rest of the Foster community!
