The Master of Science in Information Systems Program at Foster is excited to announce that select qualified candidates for the Summer 2021 cohort may be eligible to apply for a GMAT/GRE waiver! We understand 2020 may have been a challenging year, but it is our hope that providing this increased flexibility will remove some of the barriers standardized testing presents.
“The MSIS Admissions Committee takes a very holistic approach to evaluating applicants, and we recognize that standardized testing is not always reflective of a candidate’s experience. We value welcoming a cohort each year that brings diverse perspectives to the classroom. It is our hope that offering this opportunity to qualified candidates may allow them to highlight their strengths in other ways.”

I’m interested – how do I apply and when will I receive my decision?
You can submit your waiver request here, and the deadline to apply is January 15, 2021. The Admissions Committee will provide a decision by email within 14 business days.
I already took the test and am happy with the results, should I still apply for a waiver?
We recommend anyone that already has test scores to submit them with their application. However, if you do fall into the eligible criteria for a test score waiver and have not yet taken the GMAT/GRE exams, we encourage you to take advantage of this great opportunity.
What is the average GMAT/GRE score and how do I submit test scores if I have them?
We do not have a minimum score requirement, and admit students with a wide range of scores:
- Average GRE: 314
- Average accepted range: 299-327
- Scores can be sent to institution code 4854
- Average GMAT: 659
- Average accepted range: 560-770
- Scores can be sent to University of Washington – Seattle – Michael G. Foster School of Business – Seattle/MS in Information
If I am not eligible for the waiver, will it put me behind those who are?
Not at all! If an applicant is not eligible for the waiver, it does not impact their application. We take a holistic approach to evaluating applications by looking at many different aspects of an applicant’s profile. We consider educational and professional background, communication skills, managerial potential, experience with information systems, and more.
Does receiving a waiver automatically grant admission into the program?
No, students will still be required to submit the rest of the application materials and go through the full MSIS admissions process.
