For my last week in Europe I took a trip to Rome, Italy and then Prague, Czech Republic. I went with a friend from my marketing classes at Audencia to Rome. Then, one of my friends from high school flew into Rome and came to Prague with me.
Rome was incredible. The city is very easy to get around by foot. Everywhere you turn there is something to explore, whether it be churches, piazzas, or Roman ruins. My friend and I stayed in the Alessandro Palace Hostel which in a great location and puts on events so we could get to know other people there. The one thing I must recommend is to go to a gelato place called Giolitti located near the Pantheon. My friend and I were recommended by one of our friends who grew up in Rome. It was the best ice cream I’ve ever had.
Prague was one of my favorites cities. It is incredibly beautiful. Being there during the Christmas markets is a must! I’m glad I studied abroad during this time because you learn a lot about a culture based on how they celebrate holidays. My friend and I went to a restaurant called Restaurant Michal. It is family-run and serves traditional Czech food. The family comes out and plays classic Czech music and games. It was a great way to dive into the unique culture.
I am sad to be leaving Europe. I made great friends abroad that I will never forget. I think this experience has not only given me more confidence but it has deepened my understanding of people and the world. I realized how much I don’t know and haven’t seen. I thought studying abroad would help me check some things off my bucket list, but now it’s longer than ever. I am now considering internships and jobs abroad because I didn’t get enough of Europe.
