Foster Hybrid MBA launches Social Impact Scholarship
The Hybrid MBA program is delighted to announce our inaugural Social Impact Scholarship recipient, Courtney Erickson. The scholarship was created to recognize an incoming Hybrid MBA student who demonstrates Foster’s values of commitment to diversity, inclusion, and community building through their leadership in advocacy for others, primarily underserved communities.

Hybrid Highlights – Student Spotlight
Courtney Erickson, Inaugural Social Impact Scholarship recipient and Director of Social Enterprise
Courtney runs a trauma-informed and culturally responsive economic development program to empower women who are refugees. She is pursuing her MBA to scale the social impact of the organization and establish a model of best practices to help refugee communities thrive through a continuum of social support.
Courtney’s long-term goals reach beyond the Refugee and Migrant Women’s Initiative’s borders. A nonprofit, the Initiative is connected to an international resource center for marginalized and impoverished women in Niamey, Niger. Courtney seeks to increase their capacity with the intention of developing resources for internally displaced women in Niger, in addition to the US.
I am proud to be the first recipient of the Social Impact Scholarship and excited to apply everything I learn to my work at the Refugee and Migrant Women’s Initiative (RAMWI). It is energizing to be a part of a business school that leans into its values by creating pathways for people committed to strengthening mission-driven spaces. Because of this scholarship, I have the opportunity to learn in a community-based environment that values excellence and innovation with a steadfast dedication to inclusivity and positive social change. Even in my first quarter, it is evident how my experience at Foster will significantly increase the reach and impact of RAMWI.”
Courtney makes the most of her free time playing chauffeur for her three children, devouring historical fiction novels, and trying to spend as much time as possible out in nature surrounded by people who make her laugh.
Foster’s Hybrid MBA Social Impact Scholarship
Our mission at UW Foster is to develop inclusive leaders who embody the Foster School Values of bettering humanity by creating leaders who foster community. These scholarships will be awarded to admitted Hybrid MBA students who demonstrate Foster’s values of commitment to diversity, inclusion, and community building through their leadership in advocacy for others, primarily underserved communities. These renewable scholarships, awarded annually for up to $15,000, are intended to attract students who live these values with a passion to continue fostering having a positive impact through inclusive leadership in their communities.
Applications from incoming students, who can demonstrate their passion, commitment, and advocacy of historically underserved communities, are encouraged and welcome!
