To prepare candidates for the upcoming admissions deadline, we answered some frequently asked application questions. In this post, we’ll go over being a strong candidate and the application review timeline. Before you submit your application, be sure to thoroughly review our admissions page for application components, degree requirements, and more.

What makes a strong candidate?

We are often asked, “What makes a candidate competitive? What do the best applicants have that others don’t?” There are a number of things that make a strong candidate. All applicants are evaluated using the following criteria:

  • Perseverance
  • Passion for what you’re working on or for the ideas you’d like to pursue
  • A bias for action
  • Coachability
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Entrepreneurial background/experience
  • Educational history, including the rigor of your discipline
  • General intellectual ability

Please keep in mind that we don’t expect every applicant to be an extrovert. There’s a prevailing perception that entrepreneurs are loud, opinionated, determined individuals. Successful entrepreneurs are introverts and extroverts alike. However, the “determined” trait is something we do look for, as well as confidence and passion. But quietly confident and passionate works too.

What’s more important for you to know is that this graduate program is accelerated, the schedule is intense, and the faculty expects a high level of participation. We expect you to do two things at the same time: (1) be a strong, competent student and (2) an action-oriented entrepreneur. You will be doing as well as learning in this program.

What is the application review timeline?

We provide candidates the option of receiving an admission notification early by offering multiple admission rounds. Applications may be reviewed after the final admissions round on a space-available, case-by-case basis.

The application review process can take up to 8 weeks. After initial review of the applications, competitive candidates will be invited to interview with an MS in Entrepreneurship admissions team member. Interviews are conducted online through video conferencing and typically last up to 30 minutes.

Candidates are provided with an admission notification as soon as possible, typically within 4-8 weeks of their admission round date. Candidates who are waitlisted will be notified of their status and will receive an admission decision no later than 8 weeks after the final deadline.

Incomplete applications are not reviewed until all elements of the application are in place. If your application is incomplete, we will reach out to you to collect the missing information.
