Seattle Growth Podcast 2.11: Get what you want from City Council

Will the Seattle SuperSonics return? The Seattle City Council has a lot to consider in the coming weeks.

In this final episode of the Seattle Growth Podcast, season 2, former Councilmember Sally Clark gives guidance on how to effectively engage city government—whether you want to discuss the potential building or renovation of a sports arena for NBA hoops or any other issue facing this growing city. She shares the best way to communicate your opinions along with some dos and don’ts.

Podcast host Jeff Shulman reveals that he is not actually a Sonics fan. But he talks about how moved he has been by his conversations with so many people—a rich diversity of race, gender, education and political affiliation—who have been united by the presence of a world-class basketball team and inspired to make Seattle great.

The episode closes with comments on the historical significance of the Sonics on the city by Pete Nordstrom, Slick Watts, Lenny Wilkens, Detlef Schrempf, Professor Jen Hoffman, Jack and Steve Hussey, Debi Frausto, Jeff Brown, Lauren Henry and Nicole Morrison.
