Seattle Growth Podcast 2.3: The proposed SODO arena and Port of Seattle jobs

The SODO arena group was a street vacation away from being ready to invite the NBA to a modern Seattle arena. But the Port of Seattle has remained an outspoken opponent.

In the third episode of the Seattle Growth Podcast, season 2, learn the reasons behind the Port’s opposition to a new sports arena in the SODO neighborhood.

Port of Seattle Commissioner John Creighton lays out the Port’s argument. Former Port CEO Mic Dinsmore, who served in that capacity from 1992-2007, provides some historical context on the Port and its interests. And Dave Gering, executive director of the Manufacturing Industrial Council, discusses why he fears a SODO arena could affect not only the city’s maritime industry, but all residents of Seattle.
