Seattle Growth Podcast 5.5: Life on the streets

What is it really like to live on the streets of Seattle?

Episode 5 of the Seattle Growth Podcast, season 5, features a candid first-hand description of the experience of homelessness in Seattle.

A man named Timothy opens up about how he became homeless, why he chooses to live in Seattle and what daily life is like on the streets. He also gives a surprising answer to the question of how society is failing the homeless and makes a simple request of listeners.

Seattle City Councilmember Mike O’Brien discusses what he thinks the city can do to improve the way it deals with residents living in cars, RVs and buses. He also revisits his experience at the center of the infamous Ballard town hall meeting earlier this year that deteriorated into an uncivil shouting match over the proposed (and now defunct) corporate head tax and other issues related to the homelessness crisis.
