Season six of the Seattle Growth Podcast has explored the many ways that Seattleites are building or finding a sense of community in a city that is growing and changing so rapidly.

Episode 6.12 considers the communities that arise around sports.

Husky Basketball legend Donald Watts, the owner and player development at Watts Basketball, shares the work being done to foster a community of children and parents who are interested in basketball as a means to build life skills. Watts offers lessons from Watts Basketball that can be applied to any community.

The Seattle Growth Podcast is hosted and produced by Jeff Shulman, the Marion B. Ingersoll Professor of Marketing at the UW Foster School of Business.

Shulman is also the co-director and producer of On the Brink, the acclaimed documentary of history, hope and determination to save Seattle’s vanishing Central District. The film screens at several locations around the country over the coming weeks, including events in Los Angeles, Columbus, New York and Chicago. In Seattle, it screens October 19 at the Museum of History and Industry (MOHAI) and November 20 at Garfield High School’s Quincy Jones Performing Arts Center.
