Twenty Years of GBCC: Announcing our 2018 Co-Chairs!

The Global Business Center is excited to celebrate twenty years of international excellence during its annual Global Business Case Competition (GBCC), April 9-14th, 2018. Once again, eleven international teams will converge on the UW campus to compete for the title of GBCC Champion. Past winners include Mexico’s Universidad Panamericana Guadalajara, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, New Zealand’s University of Auckland, Denmark’s Copenhagen Business School, and our very own University of Washington, just to name a few.

GBCC is a student run event, led by two co-chairs and their eight person management team. Each spring, the co-chairs are selected by Global Business Center staff from a group of high achieving student applicants. The GBC is excited to announce this year’s co-chairs: Macey McGovern and Davin Yeom. Both women are seniors in the Foster School of Business and are passionate about case competitions, global experiences, and making GBCC 2018 an unforgettable event. Read on to find out more about Macey and Davin!

What are you most excited for GBCC 2018?

“I’m beyond stoked to host all of the teams! It’s almost like a mini study abroad adventure from home when eleven different teams from numerous countries convene at Foster. I can roll out of bed and learn something new about another culture every day of GBCC week.”

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and what would you do?

“I would love to accompany National Geographic photographer, Paul Nicklen, on one of his expeditions, maybe to Africa or Antarctica. He’s photographed narwhals! I’m bound to see something spectacular.”

Davin Yeom

Davin is a senior studying accounting and information systems, and plans to sit for the CPA exam before graduation. She moved to Olympia from Seoul, South Korea when she was 9 years old and lived there until she came to UW. She loves traveling and has set a goal to travel to 30 countries before she turns 30. So far she’s made it to 9 countries!

What are you most excited for GBCC 2018?

“I’m most excited to meet and network with students from all over the world! I think GBCC is a really unique opportunity to show off our beautiful campus and program as well.”

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and what would you do?

“If I could travel anywhere in the world, I would travel to the refugee camps and volunteer in any way that I can.”
