Our YEOC January session focused on the field of Information Systems as well as our Annual YEOC Career Fair! Students learned how to strategize, what questions to ask and the overall etiquette of navigating a career fair. Next up students jumped right into the annual career fair with resumes and YEOC business cards in hand. This year the fair hosted 23 local companies and organizations in the Paccar Café! YEOC Mentor Vipo Bun noted, “the goal of the career fair is to expose both high school and college students to a variety of opportunities such as summer internships, scholarships and academic enrichment programs.” To name a few participants, this year we welcomed ACAP, Seattle City Light, Microsoft Apprenticeship Program, Nordstrom, Teens in Public Service, Washington State Opportunity Scholarship program and many more! After the career fair students got to know the inside scoop in the world of information systems from YEOC mentor and program alumni Tina Moore. Our keynote speaker Joseph Sunga a Foster alumni who and current product manager from Spare5 kept students on their toes as to what a career in IS looks like. After lunch students participated in an NBA themed data analytics challenged designed by Kiseri Redi and Tina Moore that pushed students to apply the different methods of data anaylyis in sports statistics.
