A Student Ambassador’s Perspective
Becoming a Student Ambassador has truly been a remarkable journey for me. Initially, my decision to take on this role stemmed from a desire to give back to the Supply Chain Program and express gratitude to the previous team of student ambassadors who had been instrumental during my own application process. Little did I know that this experience would surpass my expectations in numerous ways. Addressing queries, from seemingly small doubts to engaging in casual discussions about Seattle’s weather, housing, or general curriculum-related inquiries, I take immense pride in providing thoughtful and informative responses. In crafting this article, my goal is to provide insight into the program, extending a helping hand to the extraordinary cohort set to embark on their journey in Summer 2024.
Why Foster School of Business for My Masters?
I chose the Foster School of Business for my master’s in supply chain management for several compelling reasons. Firstly, the school’s distinguished reputation as one of the top business schools in the United States caught my attention, instilling confidence in the quality of education I would receive. The location in Seattle, renowned as the birthplace of industry giants, further appealed to me. Being in a city with such a rich business history adds a unique and inspiring aspect to my academic journey. In the post-COVID era, the acknowledgment of supply chain management’s significance has been widespread. What specifically drew me to this program is its commitment to equipping students with the most relevant skills demanded in the market. Moreover, the program’s STEM designation is a key factor for me, indicating a strong focus on practical and applicable knowledge. The inclusion of an immersive Practicum Project addressing real company challenges solidified my decision, as it ensures a hands-on and industry-relevant learning experience.
Student Ambassador’s Role
As a student ambassador, I’m thrilled at the opportunity to support new students in the Supply Chain Management program. Reflecting on my journey a year ago, arriving in Seattle left me with countless questions about the student life at the University of Washington (UW), the nearest gymnasium, must-visit places in the city, and the key to settling in well in this new environment. A pivotal moment occurred when a fellow student ambassador came to my aid during the initial phase. They not only guided me in navigating the area but also shared valuable insights about the program, making the transition incredibly smooth. Now, I look forward with enthusiasm to pay it forward and assist the next group of students embarking on this exciting journey.
My University of Washington Experience
The campus is truly enchanting, and I must say, it’s one of the most captivating places I’ve ever encountered. From the iconic Suzzallo Library to the breathtaking views of Mt. Rainier from the Red Square, every corner seems to enhance the overall beauty of the campus. Evening classes, which I initially approached with skepticism, turned out to be a blessing in disguise. They allowed me to juggle part-time job shifts in the mornings, providing a practical way to manage my finances while pursuing my course. At Foster, we don’t just pursue our studies, we come together to celebrate festivals and create bonds within our exceptional cohort. Here, every day is an opportunity to learn, grow, and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere.
