Foster Partners with MLT to Improve Student Access to Networks, Coaching
This spring, Foster became the 31st school to join the well-respected national business leadership organization, Management Leadership for Tomorrow (MLT). MLT equips underrepresented students with the skills, coaching and connections they need to lead organizations and communities worldwide. They have given rise to a powerful professional network of champions – peers, mentors and senior leaders – who are catalysts for a diverse, equitable and thriving America. As a Premier Partner with MLT, Foster is in good company. 11 of the 14 Premier schools rank in the top 30 Best Business Schools in the country (U.S. News & World Report , 2018).
30% of the U.S. population identify as Black, Latino or Native American– yet only 3% of the U.S. senior leadership is Black, Latino or Native. Since 2002, MLT has transformed the careers and lives of more than 6,000 talented young leaders, providing coaching and support at all stages: from college to a first job, from Business School to the C-Suite.
Kiersa Sanders, 2014 Foster Undergraduate Alum, MLT MBA Prep Fellow
Kiersa Sanders, a 2014 Foster undergraduate alum, recently joined MLT’s MBA Prep program. While at Foster, Kiersa was actively engaged in leadership activities with Beta Alpha Psi and the Consulting & Business Development Center. She also served as a Foster Student Ambassador and a mentor with the Young Executives of Color (YEOC) program. Kiersa currently works at Deloitte doing Strategy & Operations, and is planning on going back to school for her MBA.
“I learned about MLT during my junior year at Foster,” said Sanders. “I was participating in the Harvard Summer Venture in Management Program and several of the students already knew each other because they had been MLT Career Prep fellows. I missed the window for Career Prep because the program is for college sophomores but I made a mental note to apply for MBA Prep.”
MLT’s one-on-one Admissions coaching and their robust and growing network of 6,000+ peers and established professionals were a big draw for Kiersa.
“MLT has provided me with a framework to develop my story and brand for MBA applications. The framework has allowed me to be much more thoughtful about who I am as a professional, what I want to gain from business school, and which specific programs can help me meet those goals. As a result, I’ve been able to tailor the list of schools I’m applying to down to the programs that are truly the best fit for me.”
