Koalas, Kangaroos, and Australia!

Guest post by: Katelin Yates is a Junior studying Finance. This 2019 Summer, Katelin participated in the Business Australia Exploration Seminar.

This past summer, I traveled to Australia on the Business Australia Exploration Seminar. Starting in Melbourne, we traveled up the east coast to Sydney, Brisbane, and finally Cairns. We were there to study business, government and society. Rather than going to class every day, we had the opportunity to visit companies, including Amazon and the Australian Open. They told us about their business models and plans for expansion in the near future. The program also coordinated multiple cultural visits to teach us more about their society in the short time we spent there. We met with an aboriginal leader, watched West Side Story in the Sydney Opera House, and even got to snorkel in the Great Barrier Reef! The highlight of my trip would have to be visiting the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary in Brisbane. We got to hold koalas and feed the kangaroos. Overall this was an incredible experience that allowed me to experience a new culture while growing closer to my peers in Foster.
