4 MSBA Video Interview Pointers to Make You Stand Out

All MSBA applicants are required to submit a recorded interview. The interview allows us to get to know you better, assess your communication skills and your ability to think quickly and creatively. Questions are pre-recorded and you’ll have two minutes to record your answer. Don’t worry; you’ll have access to unlimited practice questions to get hour head in the game first.

1. Have the necessary equipment.

Make sure you have reliable Internet service, audio, microphone, & web cam. It’s a good idea to test your equipment ahead of time so there are no unforeseen glitches.

2. Dress for the part.

Be sure to keep a professional appearance while completing the interview, this is our first impression of what you bring to the table. Make sure you are in a quiet place where you won’t be interrupted or have to deal with distractions.

3. Eye contact.

Don’t forget there are people reviewing these videos on the other end! Maintain eye contact with the web cam and imagine you are talking to the Foster admissions staff.

4. Speak clearly and SLOWLY.

The goal of the interview is for the MSBA admissions committee to assess your oral communication and analytical thinking skills as well as to get to know you better, which is hard to do if we can’t understand you. Communicating through a screen is tough, so be sure to speak clearly and at a reasonable pace.
