A Breath of Fresh Air for the 17th Annual CISB Foreign Market Strategy Competition

The Certificate of International Studies in Business Program (CISB) hosted its 17th annual Foreign Market Strategy Competition. The CISB program prepares students to be global business leaders through coursework in foreign language, international business, and area studies. The goal of the CISB Foreign Market Strategy Competition is to gain hands-on experience in foreign market entry analysis. Students are organized into foreign language/regional tracks, and the tracks compete against each other in the competition each year.

The 2024 competition was hosted by Violett, a Washington-based company working to create safe places for everyone to breathe with sleek, advanced air disinfection technology. Violett’s proprietary UVC VortexTM, HEPA filtration and nanotechnology performs over a million times better at reducing viruses in the air than leading competitors.

The Founder and CEO, Branden Doyle, created the product with U.S. Department of Defense engineers. Students were charged with presenting to Violett with recommendations on where and how to enter new foreign markets.

Our CISB students showcased their impressive global business skills with detailed analysis on market entry strategies, regulations and restrictions, competitors, target demographics, and more! The Japanese/Korean track were awarded the Grand Prize with their proposal for Violett to enter the South Korea market by selling their air filtration devices to hospitals, elderly care facilities, and schools. The winning team had the opportunity to present at Violett’s team meeting with the CEO and made CISB proud!

We are honored to have Violett partner with us for this case competition, and we are looking forward to seeing Violett make the air we breathe around the world healthier.
