CISB prepared alumna for an international career with DHL
Shinta Yuliana graduated from the University of Washington Foster School of Business in 2004 with a BABA, option in marketing. She also earned a Certificate of International Studies in Business. Shinta took a moment to share how CISB has influenced her career.
How has CISB helped you in your career?
CISB helped me discover more about myself and my passion to work in an international environment. CISB also give me the opportunity to be connected with students with the same international interest and passion, and I was able to develop very good friendships with my CISB friends, whom I am still in touch with today.
I am now working for DHL, one of the most international companies in the world. During my career with the company, I have lived in three countries: Belgium, Singapore, and Shanghai. I believe my study abroad experience gave me a very early training for living overseas, and prepared me for where I am today.
What are a few highlights or fondest memories of your study abroad experience?
I studied abroad for one year in Cadiz, Spain. I really enjoyed living in this small beautiful town because of the happy and friendly people.
My host family was the best. Now, 13 years later, I still keep in touch with them (thanks to Facebook!), and they are definitely people I hold close to my heart. I might have forgotten many things after 13 years, but I will never forget the delicious food my host mum made every day.
What are your career plans?
I have been with DHL for ten years. I’m not sure what will happen in my career, but I know whatever I do next will be international.
