Foster School Kicks Off the School Year with a Birthday Bash

Foster Birthday Bash

The first day of school is always exciting, but this year the at the Foster School, Dean Jiambalvo enlisted some help in putting out the purple-and-gold welcome mat for our students.

Fashion Statements

Returning scholars and incoming freshmen started the first day of the autumn quarter by finding free t-shirts waiting for them in the 28 classrooms in PACCAR Hall and Business Hall. The T-shirts featured two designs: a purple shirt celebrating 95 years of business education on the Seattle campus and a grey one marking the fifth anniversary of our school’s naming for Michael G. Foster.

Food, Fun & Games

The noon hour brought 1,000 gourmet cupcakes and several crowd pleasing songs including “Happy Birthday” and “Bow Down to Washington” from the UW pep band and cheer squad.  Blue skies, outdoor games and a 40-foot inflatable slide suggested summer might not be over just yet as students, staff and faculty kicked off the school year in style.

But Wait, There’s More!

Alumni can join in the Foster School (and birthday) spirit by collecting their own complimentary t-shirt next month.  Check out the next issue of Foster Business Magazine to learn more.
