Jaymz Walters, Class of ‘23

Jaymz Walters, Class of ‘23

I began at the UW Foster School of Business as a transfer student during fall of 2020. This initiated the hunt for internships for the soon to come summer. As a student majoring in Finance and Information Systems, I hoped to be immersed into the consulting world of business. This led to my application to the University of Washington Consulting and Business Development Center (UW CBDC) in my winter quarter. This ten-week long summer internship not only placed me into real world consulting but grew long lasting relationships with the other student interns and my mentors throughout the greater Seattle area.

As a student consultant I was given the opportunity to assist The United Indians of All Tribes Foundation (UIATF) and Real Impact Technology Consulting. Through my work with them over the course of this summer I was able to both develop business plans and marketing strategies that will hopefully create a large and meaningful impact for their stakeholders and within their organizations.

During this internship I was faced with challenges, but I was supported by my fellow student consultants, mentors, and even my clients. This internship allows you to take what you have learned from your professors to the real world of business. Not only has this helped my education but also helped me develop professional skills in communication, organization, and management. I hope that if you see an application from the Consulting and Business Development Center that you apply!

Applications open February 2022! Follow us on social media to stay in the loop! Contact Rebecca Thornton for more details ([email protected]).

2022 Update – With the skills that Jaymz learned during his internship with the UW Consulting & Business Development Center, he has obtained student employment within the University of Washington Treasury Department and has been selected for a 2022 Summer Internship with Deloitte!
