Pacific Rim Bankers Program becomes Global Bankers Program

Global Bankers Program

New name, same great program.

After more than 40 years educating international banking professionals, the Foster School’s Pacific Rim Bankers Program (PRBP) is changing its name to the UW Global Bankers Program (GBP), effective January 2018.

We at UW Executive Education believe that this change reflects both the true level of excellence that the PRBP curriculum has delivered over the past 40 years and the increasing geographical diversity of participants who are now attending the Program.

When Dr. Kermit Hanson, former Dean of the UW Business School, first envisioned this Program over 40 years ago, he had 3 primary goals in mind:

  • Examine issues of mutual interest to all Pacific Rim nations
  • Improve participants’ abilities to handle banking and management problems
  • Facilitate banking relationships between the U.S. and other Pacific Rim nations

These goals still hold true for the program today, but have become increasingly broader in nature as we now attract participants to the Program from well beyond the Pacific Rim including countries such as Argentina, Canada, Chile, the Dominican Republic, India, and Panama, to name a few.

The name change comes largely in response to feedback from our Program Administrative and Advisory Boards, as well as our desire to reflect the ongoing evolution of the Program. We are excited for this next chapter in this long-standing and special Program.
